Australian Youth Week Ambassadors, Dappled Cities, return from overseas in June for the home leg of their current world tour with a national series of special headline shows. Aptly titled the ‘Winter Tour’, the band will arrive home following 5 months of touring their unique brand of art-rock across the United States, the UK, Europe and Asia. These will be Dappled Cities only Australian shows for the remainder of 2010. We then bid the band adieu for more festival dates across Europe and a return to Los Angeles to complete work on a new album.
We can expect Dappled Cities to be in celebratory mood as this tour marks the end of their mammoth Zounds campaign in Australia - which delivered the band their first #1 AIR debut and ARIA nomination, as well as Rolling Stone magazine Independent Artist Of The Year. US & UK audiences have been unanimous in their praise for the live show and this will be the first time the band have a chance to impress their home crowd since their gold-lame-bodysuited-Laneway Festival appearances earlier this year.
We can expect songs from all three of Dappled Cities albums, as well as live exclusives for a number of their new songs as the band prepare for their upcoming recording. As a special treat a number of shows on Dappled Cities Winter Tour will be filmed for release as a DVD later this year.
Making this a truly national event Dappled Cities have invited some of their favourite artists from all corners of Australia on the road. Brisbane’s own purveyors of glorious pop the John Steel Singers will join the entire tour and Adelaide’s kooky Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! Will join the bill for tonight’s Rosemount show.
Tickets for Dappled Cities’ Winter Tour are on-sale now and for a limited time punters have the chance to order deluxe ticket packages to the tour which also include a beautiful US release only double-vinyl version of the Zounds album and T-shirts.
